FRS/GMRS, range of FRS? - frs where to buy in canada
I live in Canada and recently bought a FRS / GMRS 2-way walkie talkie. My plan is to use it on a trip this weekend in New York. We will be traveling in groups, about 7 cars. FRS can be used in order? FRS (assuming that it would be more than one mile) and what channels are they? I do not believe that the long-distance communication, which require more state GMRS license?

Its scope is limited by a number of things such as TV, barriers, receiver sensitivity and performance. The distance is probably OK in a mile, but you need line of site between the two stations, which communicate with each other. The signal can be due to the fact that you will be in a metal are affected car! There are other cars that between you and the other guy.
Receiver sensitivity is difficult to assess, because surely not released to radio shortly. Just check the ratings online.
The output power is probably the same for everyone. Again, look for online reviews.
